Triple mandate
Unique Saskatchewan Schools with a Triple Mandate
The Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CÉF) carries out a triple mandate (educational, cultural and community) to prepare its students to be proud Francophones and accomplished citizens.
For CÉF staff, academic success is paramount. Its first mandate is to ensure that all students reach their full potential by benefiting from a quality first-language French education. All subjects are taught in French except for English Language Arts classes, which are the same as those taught in the English-language schools across the province.
Thanks to its cultural mandate, students live, play and learn in a 100% Francophone environment. Students explore their cultural identity through Francophone sociocultural activities (clubs, sports teams, entertainment, etc.). Provincial activities give students the opportunity to build friendships with other Francophone youth from across the province. In Fransaskois schools, living one’s culture is a way of life!
To carry out its community mandate, the CÉF works with Francophone community organizations to offer students and their families a variety of programs in French. These partnerships enrich students’ academic journey and broaden the Francophone space.
Students live their Francophone culture every day in Fransaskois schools. At the end of high school, students graduate with a superior level of bilingualism. This opens doors to postsecondary studies, a career or a profession in the language of their choice.
“My school made me feel like a unique member of the larger school community. I always felt special at school. The support teachers gave to students to help them achieve success was extraordinary. I am benefiting from that support even now being out of high school.”
- Geoffrey Carter, 2012 Graduate of École canadienne-française, Saskatoon
