Regina, February 14, 2014 - The Conseil scolaire fransaskois (CSF) is pleased to announce the interim nomination of Mr. Donald Michaud as Director of Education for the Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CÉF).

"Originally from Saskatchewan, Donald Michaud springs out of semi-retirement to serve as Director of Education for the Conseil scolaire fransaskois.  The position had become vacant after its outgoing director, Mr. Bernard Roy, had stepped down for health reasons."

Mr. Michaud began his teaching career at Collège Mathieu, the only Francophone high school in Saskatchewan at the time, where he later became principal.  He remained in Gravelbourg for 16 years before moving to Alberta after accepting a position as director of education for a Francophone school board.

He then left Alberta to become Superintendent of Education in Ontario.  He ended his career in Alberta by resuming his role as director of education for the same Francophone school board where he had previously worked.

In 2013, his expertise and exemplary leadership were rewarded when he received the Edgar-Gallant Award from the Regroupement national des directions générales de l’éducation (national association of Francophone directors of education, or RNDGÉ). The award is given each year to a Francophone individual who has contributed to the development of Francophone education in school management and administration.

“I missed Saskatchewan.  It is a privilege for me to return to the school community that marked my first 16 years in education.  I am pleased to share the expertise and experience I acquired elsewhere over the course of my professional career in order to support Francophone education in Saskatchewan,” stated Mr. Michaud.

Since his semi-retirement, Mr. Michaud had been working on occasion as a consultant in school management.  The CSF would like to thank Mr. Michaud for his support and wish him success in his new role during this period of change at the CÉF.
