Regina, January 26, 2016 - André Denis, Chair of Conseil Scolaire Fransaskois (CSF), which overseas Saskatchewan's Francophone school division - Conseil des écoles fransaskoises (CEF) - announced today that Director of Education Donald Michaud is leaving his duties, citing family and personal reasons.

"The Trustees would like to thank Donald Michaud for his dedication and professional commitment to Fransaskois education"

Donald Michaud joined the CÉF team in February 2014 as Acting Director of Education. He was tasked with leading the financial recovery of Saskatchewan's lone Francophone school division.

"Donald joined the CÉF during a particularly turbulent period in its history, after the Conseil had specifically sought his expertise. He piloted complex files with as strong an engagement as his passion for French first-language education. The Trustees would like to thank Donald Michaud for his dedication and professional commitment to Fransaskois education," noted André Denis.

Donald Michaud dedicated his professional life to Francophone education. A native of Gravelbourg, he began his teaching and education administration career at what was at the time the only French high school in Saskatchewan : Collège Mathieu. Michaud helped launch Beau Soleil elementary school in Gravelbourg. He headed school boards in Ontario and Alberta, where he is the executive of the Francophone equivalent of the Saskatchewan School Boards Association. One of the architects of Saskatchewan's French first-language education system, he earned the most prestigious national recognition for public service administration in minority Francophone education : the Edgar Gallant Award.

Until the ongoing search for a new Director of Education concludes, Excutive Director of Operations Ronald Ajavon and Deputy Director of Education Luc Handfield will assume M. Michaud's duties in the interim.
