Regina, Friday November 20, 2015 – The Conseil des Écoles Fransaskoises (CEF) -- Saskatchewan’s Francophone school division -- expressed disappointment following the publication of the ruling today by the Supreme Court of Canada in the Caron-Boutet case.
"The CEF will continue to seek a negotiated settlement out-of-court in its current dispute with the Province, a process initiated last year"
The President of the Conseil Scolaire Fransaskois (the body of trustees which oversees the school board), André Denis, felt confident there would be no adverse effect on the Fransaskois school system, following the rejection of the appellants' arguments by the highest court in the land on the linguistic status of French in Alberta and Saskatchewan:
"The Fransaskois School Board anticipates that the decision will have no impact on the historical gains of the Fransaskois in the area of Francophone education in the Province. The CEF will continue to collaborate with the Government of Saskatchewan and Fransaskois education partners for the advancement of services intended for the Province’s linguistic minority. The CEF will continue to seek a negotiated settlement out-of-court in its current dispute with the Province, a process initiated last year, " noted André Denis.
